"Classroom Management is not about having the right rules, it's about having good relationship."
Dr. Harry Wong highlighted the importance of classroom management in the teaching and learning process. First day of class is one of the crucial day in teaching because this is where you need to gain the trust and attention of the students as well as your authority as their teacher. It is important for us to create our rules and regulation on the first day of class so that our students know what to do and what to expect for the whole school year. The first day or even the first minute of class will make or break you as a teacher. So, we need to enter our classroom with full gear as if you are going to a battle. We should be ready and prepare to make our classroom fun, interactive, and free from chaos.
As future special education teacher, classroom management will help me to maintain peaceful and conducive learning environment. It can also lessen the possibility of having a chaotic classroom. I will apply what I have learned to make my classroom feels like my students' second home. The quote above said that classroom management is not merely about the set right rules and regulation but also it is about how you build good and harmonious relationship with your students. In making rules inside the classroom, we should collaborate to our students on what should be our rules inside the classroom. We should let them to participate in the decision making so that they know that their ideas are being respected and accepted. We need to make sure that our classroom is warm and accommodating so that our students will feel that they are all welcome and accepted.

It is true that setting rules and regulation in our classroom helps to achieve classroom management. But we also have to bear in mind that this is only one of the many ways. We still have to consider many other ways to further achieve classroom management. Good job!

DeleteI commend the idea of setting right rules “with our students” which means us, teachers, are training them to collaborate and to make an agreement with the said rules. It’s a good insight of yours, Ms. Taguines! God bless!
